Apple, Walgreens partner on $50 Apple Card sign-up promotion

Apple Card

Last updated

Apple, in partnership with Walgreens, this week presented its first Apple Card sign-up incentive, offering new members $50 in Daily Cash when they use the branded card at a Walgreens store.

Advertised on Apple's website and in Walgreens' iOS app, the limited time offer kicked off on June 1 and runs through June 30, reports TechCrunch.

To obtain the $50 in Daily Cash, applicants must spend $50 or more at Walgreens within 30 days of receiving their new Apple Card.

The sign-up reward can be transferred to Apple Cash for withdrawal to a bank account or sent to friends via iMessage. Alternatively, users can apply the $50 toward an outstanding Apple Card balance.

Walgreens was one of the first companies to partner with Apple on Apple Card rewards, offering customers 3% cash back on certain items last September. As part of the deal, Walgreens agreed to expand availability of Apple accessories like Lightning cables, EarPods and iPhone cases to 2,600 stores.

Walgreens and Duane Reade are currently running a promotion that offers 3% back on drive-thru orders paid for using a physical Apple Card. The promo, which runs through July 31, is in addition to 3% cash back on in-store, in-app and online Apple Pay payments.

How many weeks does it take to get an Apple card application reply. ??
I unfroze my excellent credit and it automatically refroze after a week. Never got an answer.
I just use my Barclay Apple card.

Mine was more or less instant.

Immediate for me no more than a minute from start to approved through the iPhone wallet app and has been a convenient payment method for many months since.

Walgreens was one of the original supporters of ApplePay.   CVS and others spurned it (for a long time!) while Walgreens immediately embraced it.
After having my card hacked I appreciated Walgreen's initiative.   To me it meant that they valued their customers and respected their need for the security of their financial tools and that made me a long term shopper there while avoiding those like CVS who took the opposite route.

This is the first sign up offer I've seen for the Apple Card so far.

$50 is not as much as some other cards offer, but this is a 1:1 offer, unlike the other cards.
