The "Digital Wolf Pack Initiative" at the University of Nevada will provide all incoming freshmen with an iPad Air, accessories, and training to ensure equal access to technology.

In total, the University of Nevada will provide the entire freshman class with a free iPad Air, Smart Keyboard Folio, and an Apple Pencil to fulfill the "Digital Wolf Pack Initiative." The iPad comes bundled with a free suite of iWork apps that include Pages, Keynote, and Numbers.
"I'm beyond excited that we are collaborating with Apple to provide a common learning platform for all Wolf Pack students that delivers equal access to technology and digital tools that will transform the learning experience for our University," Brian Sandoval, president of the University of Nevada, Reno said. "We want to ensure students have the same level of innovative technology, digital tools and learning materials, anywhere and anytime from their first day on campus through graduation and beyond. Only a select group of universities in the U.S. have launched this caliber of initiative and I am proud that we are amongst them."
Apple will provide training to students on using the products, apps, and coding through its Apple Professional Learning program. Apple has previously used this program to help educators during the pandemic by providing resources and educators via video programs and conferences.
"At Apple, we believe education is the great equalizer, and that access to technology is key to learning and workforce opportunities today," said Susan Prescott, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations and Education. "We are proud that Apple products and curriculum have been selected by the University of Nevada, Reno for all incoming freshmen. Together, we aim to ensure these students have the opportunity to learn, code, create, and grow in new ways."
The Freshman class will receive their devices during "NevadaFIT," the university's orientation program for incoming students. It will be held from August 15 to August 20.
Apple often works with schools at any education level to provide students with the tools and training needed to succeed. Other school systems and universities have been known to buy iPads in bulk and give them to students for use during the school year.
