Athom's new Homey Pro mini is a home automation hub at a great price

Athom's new privacy-first home hub gives users plenty of ways to manage their smart homes at a competitive price.

On Monday, Athom unveiled its new, budget-friendly home hub, the Homey Pro mini. This compact hub has been designed to offer an exceptionally customizable home hub experience, all while minimizing data sharing with the cloud.

Like the original Homey Pro, the Homey Pro mini allows customers to connect directly with more than 1,000 other smart home brands' devices via local and cloud-based API, too. And, out of the box, the Homey Pro mini is compatible with Matter, Thread, Zigbee, and LAN.

If that's not enough, pairing it with the Homey Bridge adds connectivity with Zigbee, Z-Wave, Bluetooth, Infrared, and, in Europe, Asia, and Oceania, 433 MHz. Adding Homey Bridge to Homey Pro mini in Satellite Mode increases Zigbee range.

The Homey Pro mini is compatible with voice assistants, too, including Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant. It can be accessed via the Mac, iPad, or iPhone, too, and can even be controlled by the Apple Watch.

It ships with all Homey Pro functionality, like Homey Flow, Advanced Flow, Insights, and Experiments, and also features the recently released Homey Dashboards and Homey Energy Management functionality.

Homey Pro mini is available to preorderfor $199, a significant savings over the original Homey Pro, which retails for $399. If you'd like to purchase the Homey Bridge, it'll run you an additional $69.
