Final Cut Pro and iMovie get new features, Elon Musk tries to buy Twitter, and Tim Cook gets serious about the sideloading fight on the AppleInsider Podcast.
Apple TV+aired its first "Friday Night Baseball" broadcast amid mixed reviews. Some users experienced loading issues, while others critiqued the game's announcers.
Despite these issues, some users say the quality of Apple's stream is better than typical sports broadcasts, and its minimalist graphic design for scores and game information is an improvement.
Meanwhile, Final Cut Pro, Compressor, Motion, and iMovie all received updates this week, improving performance on the Mac Studio, and adding additional features. For example, a new tool in Final Cut Pro is Voice Isolation, which uses machine learning to eliminate background noise and increase vocal clarity.
This week Apple CEO Tim Cook delivered a keynote speech at the IAPP Global Privacy Summit, taking a hard stance against sideloading on iPhone and iPad. Cook reaffirmed that Apple believes competition drives innovation but allowing apps to circumvent the App Store will invite ransomware and bad actors to hurt its customers.
Next, after declining to join Twitter's board of directors, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has offered to buy the entire social network for $41 billion. Musk says Twitter has "extraordinary" potential, but should become a private company that focuses on "free speech around the globe."
Should Twitter decline his offer, Musk stated he would reconsider his position as a 9.2% stakeholder in the company.
