Tech analysts are projecting a shrinking global smartphone market, but Apple is expecting the iPhone 14 family to keep pace with 2021's demand levels.
Apple seems confident despite analysts' predictions and is reportedly asking its suppliers to build at least 90 million next-generation iPhones.
In fact, Apple anticipates to assemble 220 million iPhones in total for 2022 according to Bloomberg.
Apple has weathered the pandemic-era slumps well. Mac shipments, for instance, grew in Q1 2022 even though the broader PC market slumped.
In Q2 2022, Apple saw its best market share since 2012, holding 16% of the global market.
Apple's iPhone also took 62% of Q1's global market share for devices costing over $400, suggesting that Apple's target audience is still willing to spend on a high-end device.

It seems unlikely that such figures are accurate. Apple has numerous manufacturers and a complex supply chain. It would need a lot of leaks from many sources to know this. I doubt many inside Apple know the real figures and I’m sure there’s a lot of forwarding planing, variable quantities with scheduled deliveries and options depending on how well sales go.
Apple made almost $90 billion last quarter alone!
The real number to ponder is that Apple will be building 220 million iPhones in the coming model year (which basically coincides with Apple’s fiscal year).
220M/365.25/3600=7 iPhones/second!
Do any of you know how many production lines they have or
how long it takes for a single iPhone to be assembled, tested, boxed?
I hope it’s true so there will be enough units available for purchase, unlike with the iPad Mini 6 and the new MacBook Air.
