Apple Music's Zane Lowe interviews musician/songwriter Billie Eilish over writing a song for the "Barbie" movie, and how it connects to her childhood.

For a movie that's about a doll -- even an iconic doll -- the "Barbie" film has already made a remarkable impact before it reaches theaters. From funny trailers, and intentionally questionable straplines in France, to billboard ads that are just solely pink, "Barbie" is everywhere -- and now that includes Apple Music.
In a new half-hour interview, Zane Lowe talks to Billie Eilish about her song, "What Was I Made For?" and its inspiration. Now available on Apple Music, the track was written by Eilish specifically for the film.
She talks about how that came to be, what the pressures of writing for a film are -- and how a song written for a movie can also be deeply personal.
Eilish previously won one of Apple Music's first awards. She was also part of Apple Music Live, and was profiled in the 2021 Apple TV+ movie, "The World's a Little Blurry."
"Barbie" opens in theaters on July 21.
