On this week's episode of the HomeKit Insider podcast, we break down the recent IFA announcements and other smart home news.
HomeKit Insider
This week there was a plethora of news out of Internationale Funkausstellung, the Berlin-based conference better known as IFA. This European trade event saw the announcement of several new tech products set to be released in the coming months.
Philips Hue has entered the camera market with several hardwired and battery-powered options. They don't support HomeKit Secure Video but do plan to support HomeKit once Matter has been extended to support cameras.
Then Eve has a few new products, including a wireless climate controller and also Eve Play -- an AirPlay 2 receiver for wired speakers. The recently-acquired smart home maker also announced Matter support for its MotionBlinds products.
Plus Aqara has new gear too, although not all of it may arrive in the Americas. The new relay switch and U200 smart lock were particularly interesting.
Finally, Zagg, Belkin, and Anker all had new Qi2 chargers. The upcoming iPhone 15 series is rumored to support this new wireless charging standard.
