Only a handful

of Apple TV+ shows get any kind of physical media release, and it's seemingly never Apple that does the releasing. It's because Apple always commissions other firms to make shows for it, and some of those firms retain the rights to releases.

Consequently, Fifth Season, one of the co-production companies involved, has produced a Blu-ray of "Severance," season one. It's due out on December 17, and now available for pre-order on Amazon for $42.88.

Amazon is quoting a free-delivery date of December 23, 2024, so this barely counts as a holiday release. However, it does fit in with how season two of "Severance" has been announced for early 2025.

"Severance" is a dark thriller which has become enough of a hit that its tale of office workers has entered the mainstream with a Stephen Colbert parody. It's not known whether that sketch, or any other bonus material, will be included on the Blu-ray.

While "Severance" was an immediate hit for Apple, its second season was delayed in part because of the writers' strike. It has also been reported that there have been creative differences between the two show runners on the series.
