B&H Payboo Card
Page last updated:
2022 update: The B&H Payboo Credit Card program has relaunched and now offers a sales tax refund on orders in qualifying states or the choice of special financing of up to 12 months on purchases of $199 or more. The new Payboo Card is issued through Comenity Capital Bank.
The B&H Payboo card has a unique feature that will automatically refund sales tax when making a purchase. The refund is applied at checkout but only to the portion of the purchase being made with the card.
This is not a standard credit card and can only be used for B&H purchases. The card can be especially useful to customers in regions with higher sales taxes, and when used right, lead to big savings on purchases that can be stacked with B&H's current specials and even exclusive offers.
How the B&H Payboo Card works
When taxes are calculated at checkout and the customer uses the Payboo card, the taxes paid are automatically subtracted from the total. Even though the taxes are "refunded." the taxes are still paid for and there are no special filing requirements.
The refund happens after taxes are applied, so the difference is being handled by B&H and not avoided entirely. The refund applied and taxes calculated depend on which zip code is used at checkout, and there is no upper limit on how much taxes can be refunded.
A maxed out Mac Pro retails for $53,899, which shows $5,120.40 in sales tax for a Tennessee zip code. If the Payboo card is used to make that purchase, it would instantly apply a $5,120.40 discount.
Fees, rates, and limits
Of course the example with the Mac Pro was just theoretical. In order to make a purchase with the B&H Payboo card, the customer has to have an available balance less than or equal to the price of the item they want to purchase. The credit limit is calculated when applying for the card and is dependent on the applicant's income and credit score.
There is a flat 29.99% APR* applied to all new cardholders, which is the maximum interest rate allowable by law. This means if there is a remaining balance at the end of the pay period, there will be interest charged to the account.
The issuing bank is Comenity Capital Bank, and customers seeking out the card can apply directly through them or through B&H itself.
*Please see B&H's website for terms and conditions pertaining to the card.

Cardholders can make purchases internationally, but will not benefit from the tax refund feature. In order to receive the tax refund at checkout, the customer must be shipping to an address with an applicable U.S. tax.

The B&H Payboo card can be used for purchases made on the website, app, or physical store located in New York. The refund will be applied even when the card is used in the business or education portals.
