Apple extends wait times for iPod photo models
Over the weekend, Apple quietly extended the wait times for both its iPod photo models from the same business day to 2-4 business days, tipsters have noted. Recent reports have indicated imminent changes to the majority of the company's iPod offerings, including the adoption of a color screen on the iPod mini and a possible reorganization of the remaining display-based players. Sales of the color-display enabled iPod photos have lagged behind lower priced models, sources said. Apple may soon reduce the price of the photo players and eliminate the 40GB model iPod that sports a monochrome display, they said. All indications have pointed to iPod, and possibly iMac, related announcements by mid-week.On Topic: General

... Sales of the color-display enabled iPod photos have lagged behind lower priced models
True, I'm sure, though not an indication of a problem. I can't imagine ANY scenario in which the super-capacity, most expensive players in the lineup would have just as wide an audience as the lower-priced 5000-song iPods and Minis. So they'll always "lag behind" just like the 40 GB lags behind the 20.
It would be cool to see all-color iPods--even the 20--soon! TV-out and photo functions might be only on the 40 and 60. Or maybe ALL "white iPods" will be iPod Photos.
There would be no "plain iPod" just like there's no "plain Macintosh" anymore. iPods would come in three models: Shuffle, Mini, and Photo.
It may be too soon for an all-color line-up, but I can't imagine the popular 20 being the ONLY non-color model for long.
Then again, I'm still skeptical about color Minis so soon... it would be too cool to be true
