Apple says its sold 100 million iPads in less than two years
Sales of the iPad have topped 100 million in less than two years, Apple announced on Tuesday.Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook said the sales are "unprecedented for a new product in a new category." He noted that Apple sold more iPads in the June quarter than any PC maker sold of their entire PC lineup.
Cook also revealed that 94 percent of the Fortune 500 companies are now testing or deploying the iPad.

That's a pretty astounding number. Apple nailed it with this product.

Doesn't mean that at all. It depends on how much Apple "topped" 100 million by. It could be by 3 million. Or 5 million. Or less than a million. Apple is not going to reveal the exact numbers until earnings this Thursday.
Pretty good for a "recreational tablet". LOL

The real problem is that the 'street' expectations are often pulled out of someone's butt and not really based on anything of any substance.
And if you consider that Q4 is often a low time for any retail cause folks wait to buy big for the holidays, 14M units is actually very good. And someone with a real clue would likely agree.
