AI readers pick: The best note taking app for iOS is Apple Notes

We polled AppleInsider readers to find the best note taking app available for iOS. Your choice was the one already built into every iPhone and iPad, Notes, with readers saying the improvements made in iOS 9 are enough to make the default option also the best option.

A week ago we asked you to vote for your favorite noting taking app for iOS. Your nominees were: Notability, Evernote, Notes Plus, Apple Notes, GoodNotes, and Microsoft OneNote.

And the winner is...

Capturing over 40 percent of the votes, the winner is the stock Notes app that's built in to iOS. A version of Notes has shipped with each mobile device Apple has created, dating back to 2007. Voters liked that the stock Notes app was was built into the operating system and always available.

We have highlighted many of the improvements to Notes in iOS 9, none more obvious than the ability to draw inside notes, particularly with the Apple Pencil on an iPad Pro. Other popular new features like pulling in articles from the Web and checklists have finally pushed Apple Notes past it's closest competitor, Evernote.

Apple Notes wins for haivng all the necessary features without any major flaws, all while being woven into the operating system— something Evernote or Microsoft's OneNote will never match on iOS.
