Apple awaits approval to sell AppleCare in Washington state

According to several tipsters, Apple has told its Washington-based retail stores and authorized resellers to halt the sale of AppleCare protection plans to consumers until further notice. The Department of Insurance for the State of Washington is said to be reviewing Apple's application to sell its AppleCare Protection Plans for CPU-based systems and the iPod. In the meantime, Washington residence interested in AppleCare extended warranties are being asked to check back with the company in a few weeks. Tipsters say the restriction applies to consumers only and should not affect educational or business customers.
