Vudu Player for iOS update brings movie and TV show download support

Video-on-demand service Vudu on Monday rolled out a major update to its Vudu Player iOS app, granting users the ability to download movies and TV shows directly onto an Apple device for offline viewing.

With Vudu Player version 2.0, both iPhone and iPad owners can purchase and download Vudu and Ultraviolet content straight to their devices, negating the need for an Internet connection.

While the Vudu for iOS update comes months after an Android version gave users access to digital downloads, the Apple-specific version allows for tablet viewing, something noticeably absent from the iteration made for Google's mobile platform.

Alongside offline viewing, Vudu Player now supports closed captioning for the iPhone and the usual bug fixes and performance improvements.

Vudu Player for iOS comes in at 5.3MB and can be downloaded for free from the App Store.

What region are you in?

It's probably one of those US only services... like with most video on demand services.

I couldn't find it either. Norway here.

if you could find it (its on US iTunes) you would be amused by the 68 bad reviews....

you cannot browse for content, you have to use safari to find what you want, then go back to the app to download it.... sad and pathetic really. I wonder if they even have a ceo....

Can't tell you how many vudu and ultraviolet codes I've thrown away over the last 3 years or so. Likely 100. iTunes is a million times easier

I don't use Vudu, but if I wanted to, I could install it on both my Nexus 7 and my Nexus 10.  Not sure why you think it won't work on Android tablets.
