Apple updates iMovie for iOS with fix for incorrectly cropped photos

Apple on Thursday issued a minor update to its iMovie video editing app for iOS, addressing an issue that sometimes caused portrait photos to be cropped incorrectly.

iMovie version 2.1.2 for iOS hit the App Store one week after Apple updated the OS X iteration with a fix for random crashes.

Aside from photo insertion tweaks, iMovie for iOS gains backend enhancements to YouTube sharing, a feature its desktop counterpart received last week.

Apple last updated iMovie in March with support for iCloud Photo Library, iCloud Photo Sharing and resolutions to issues relating to viewing orientation.

The latest iMovie update comes in as a free 616MB download from the iOS App Store. New users can purchase the app for $4.99. The update is currently rolling out to users and should be widely available later today.
