Square Enix on Thursday released Mobius Final Fantasy, a new iteration in its popular role-playing series, this time said to be custom-tailored for phones and tablets.
Mobius is produced by Yoshinori Kitase and written by Kazushige Nojima, both veterans of the series. The game features an original story being released in chapters, and includes some hallmark Final Fantasy gameplay mechanics like the job system.
There are some significant differences however, among them a new battle system designed to be controlled single-handed, with players chaining attacks and abilities in a "rhythmic flow."
The game is also a so-called "free-to-play" title, with "Magicite" currency that can be bought using real-world money to help advance faster. Gamers can spend anywhere between 99 cents and $74.99, more than a full console Final Fantasy title.
It's not clear if people will have to pay for future Mobius chapters. In the meantime Square Enix is providing daily login rewards through Aug. 12, and bonus items to all players through Aug. 31.
On iOS, Mobius Final Fantasy requires at least iOS 7 and an iPhone 5, third-generation iPad, or sixth-generation iPod touch. Devices running iOS 8 or 9 can take advantage of Apple's Metal graphics API.

I believe this was released yesterday. Got an email from Square Enix to download the game, haven't tried it yet though. Sounds like a cool game.
still no Apple TV support - going to skip that one too
Very slick, fast and stylish for a mobile app game (and excellent archetype FF battle music)...keeps a lot of FF elements but, of course, is quite restricted due to ergonomics of mobile phone game play...... not played much yet but very good so far....
