The Apple Creative Studios program's next location will be London, with the skill development scheme being made available to young artists in the UK throughout August.
In June, Apple launched the Today at Apple Creative Studios initiative, revealing programs in Los Angeles and Beijing that will help young people develop their creative skills. This is all provided via a team of mentors within creative industries, as well as access to Apple products and services.
On Monday, the Mayor of London announced the free program will be offered in the city. Running from August 2 to August 29, the four-week program will help participants explore the music and radio industry.
Two tracks are being offered, with the Music program offering the option to write and record a track in a professional studio environment, with the opportunity to get air play on Brixton radio station Reprezent 107.3FM, as reported by 9to5Mac. Lessons include music production, mixing and mastering A&R, the role of social media, and at the end, a live interview on the radio.
The second Radio program offers the chance to produce and present a radio show on the station live, as well as providing tuition on producing audio features and promotion.
The lineup of people taking part as mentors includes Charlie Sloth, Ashley Verse, Rebecca Judd, Melle Brown, and Razor, among others. Supported by the Mayor of London, the programs are co-created by Apple, Reprezent, and Spotlight, in partnership with Apple Music and Platoon, Apple's talent-scouting and development firm.
The programs are free, with applications needed to be made by 5PM BST on July 19.
Apple previously worked with Spotlight, the London-based education organization on "Made in LDN," a series of workshops about music production.
Other Today at Apple Creative Studios workshops are to be announced later in 2021. Expected locations for the sessions are Bangkok, Chicago, and Washington D.C.
