Apple has seeded the third public beta versions of iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, tvOS 16.2, watchOS 9.2, and macOS 13.1 Ventura to members of its software testing program.
Freeform is available in the current public betas
The third public beta versions of the new software updates should be essentially identical to the third developer beta counterparts, which were released on Tuesday.
Interested users can sign up for Apple's Beta Software Program and download the new betas from the associated web portal.
New features in iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, and macOS Ventura version 13.1 include Apple's new Freeform app. The app acts as an infinite whiteboard where users can take notes, drop in images, and see other's work in real-time.
Another feature found in iOS 16.2 is the ability to control always-on display settings for the iPhone 14 Pro lineup. Users can now toggle off the wallpaper or notifications when the always-on display is active.
There are no notable changes in watchOS 9.2 and tvOS 16.2 beyond the usual bug fixes and improvements.
AppleInsider, and Apple itself, strongly insist users don't install betas onto "mission-critical" or primary devices, due to the minor chance of data loss or other issues. Instead, testers should install betas onto secondary or non-essential devices, and to ensure there are sufficient backups of important data before updating.
