Roadside Assistance via Satellite expands into the UK

Roadside Assistance via Satellite [Apple]

Roadside Assistance via Satellite has expanded into the United Kingdom, allowing iPhone owners to call for help when they're in a cellular blackspot.

Launched in September 2023, Roadside Assistance via Satellite provided a way for drivers to seek assistance if they're having trouble with their vehicle. While the initial launch covered the United States, it's just become available to use in the United Kingdom.

The feature requires an iPhone 14 or later model, and for the user to be in an area without any Wi-Fi or mobile coverage. If the user has a vehicular issue, the feature can be opened from within the Mobile Data section of Control Center or under Satellite in the Settings app.

After following instructions to connect to a satellite, they are then given a short questionnaire asking what the issue is, such as being locked out or their car doesn't start. The feature will send details, including where the user's iPhone is, to the assisting party.

For the UK, the iPhone needs to be running iOS 17 or later to connect. Its breakdown partner in the country is Green Flag.

Roadside Assistance via Satellite is free to use for two years after the activation of the iPhone. However, users will still have to pay any fees to Green Flag for their service.

As a uk based, 2 year old iPhone 14 user, what happens next?

Just tried and it and it still seems to work, with an option like in the screenshot, with the uk partner Green Flag assistance.
i wonder how much they charge?

I wonder this too, I already have coverage with someone other than Green Flag, so I guess I can't use it unless I want to Pay £££ for recovery.
