Motorola shows first iTunes-compatible phone

While presenting at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, France, Motorola on Monday formally introduced its E1060 mobile handset. The company said the E1060 was designed for the music aficionado and will feature Apple's iTunes Music Player — the first mobile phone to do so. A deal between the two companies, which took place last summer, will make iTunes the default music player on Motorola handsets. However, speaking at 3GSM, Motorola said it would also support other leading players as well. "We're committed to have iTunes as the default music client, but we'll also continue to support other music players such as RealPlayer (from RealNetworks), said Amer Husaini, vice president for Motorola's mobile devices group in Europe. The phone will be just one of several Motorola phones that will feature iTunes. It will be capable of carrying a limited number of songs in the iTunes format, as noted when Motorola previewed the phone in early January.
