In addition, readers note that in every case except the 1.8GHz 13-inch MacBook Air, resellers this holiday season have undercut Apple's educational discounts by anywhere from $50 to $150. As such, we've been asked to add a column with Apple's educational pricing to our Mac Price Guide (also below).
MacConnection, whose sale was set to end on Monday but remains active for the time being, continues to offer the best deals on 10 of Apple's 15 current Mac models. The reseller's highlights include $250 - $300 off unibody MacBook Pros, $150 - $200 of unibody MacBooks, and $99 to $199 off iMacs.
MacMall, ClubMac, and OnSale.com are each scheduled to wrap up their sales on Thursday. Of the three, ClubMac and OnSale are offering identical pricing to MacConnection on 8 Mac systems while remaining competitive on the remaining systems, which includes offering the best price on the 3.06GHz iMac.
Meanwhile, Amazon.com continues to offer the biggest savings on both of the current Mac mini models, the 8-Core 2.8GHz Mac Pro, and the 2.4GHz 20-inch iMac. The online retailer also continues to offer $30 off Parallels Desktop 4.0 for Mac ($49.99), $42 off VMware Fusion 2 ($37.99), and $340 off Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac Special Media Edition ($159.99).
Mac Price Guide updates
The below Mac Pricing Guide aims to make it easy for readers to find the lowest price on all of Apple's current generation Mac models. The best prices are highlighted in bold. The "Discount" column to the far right reflects the amount of savings between Apple's retail price and the lowest price offered on December 18th for that respective model through the company's authorized resellers. The final price factors in any rebates or instant discounts that may be offered by the resellers. Each price is a link that will take you to the reseller's product page for that specific Mac model.
AppleInsider will attempt to update the Mac Price Guide at least once a day for the foreseeable future. A link to the guide can now be found below the search bar in the header section of all AppleInsider web pages.

Does anybody know if it's likely that there will be similar discounts offered the week after Christmas - i.e. Boxing Day sales??

Sure I'd like a new Mac too, but I don't think they could get my check through that little scanner thingy - basketballs are kinda round, they bounce good too.
Besides - $50-60 buck isn't much when you are looking at spending $1000.00 + for a piece of hardware. Here's what Apple should do; one day a month, put everything up at HALF price, I bet they'd just make a killing. I'd bet my $1000 bucks on it!
