iOS 17 Control Center, ChatGPT in Shortcuts, Apple's Weather outage

By William Gallagher

Big changes may be coming to Control Center with iOS 17, Apple Weather sees outages, a new Shortcut lets you use ChatGPT on your Mac, and more on the AppleInsider Podcast.

Host Stephen Robles is all-in on ChatGPT now, and specifically because of a new integration into Shortcuts. Suddenly the AI system is now available within anything Shortcuts can do for you -- and Stephen is finding a lot.

Which is surprising because most of his time has been taken up with trying to find an alternative to Apple's Weather app.

Weather has had a widespread outage this week, but Stephen has been seeing problems with it for weeks. Just saying that put guest William Gallagher in mind of the famous "Police Squad!" interrogation scene.

But back to Apple. While ChatGPT is here and Weather is sometimes not, there are rumors that a change will come to Control Center in iOS 17. If you don't use Control Center, Stephen says you're not alone.

So maybe this change will help surface a useful iPhone feature, or maybe it will just be wasted effort. We'll find out at WWDC in June.
