So why can’t they get special promotions at places dads actually want to get gifts from like sporting goods shops, gun stores, electronic stores, hobby shops, Home Depot,  other “dude” toy stores :).

Maybe because the "dude" stores are don't want to pay for extra promotions to lure customers they would likely get anyway.
