The A17 Pro in iPhone 15 Pro is being promoted as a gaming powerhouse in Apple's latest ad.
Apple's advertisements for the iPhone 15 Pro have been short clips focused on single features. The latest 30 second clip is all about A17 Pro.
The ad is incredibly short and lacks much detail about the chip or its capabilities, but it is an interesting visual. A person playing Genshin Impact on the couch is launched through their ceiling into the air, then lands in a subway car without ever looking away from the game.
It's certainly an eye-catching ad likely designed for the short attention span of web video. View the full ad below.
The A17 Pro is Apple's first chipset built with the 3nm process. It has a 20% faster GPU than the A16 and is capable of hardware ray tracing in games.
Apple's tagline for the video reads, "the A17 Pro chip on iPhone 15 Pro is a game changer. Literally."
An Apple Event being held on Monday, October 30 at 8 p.m. EST could have a gaming angle. The first games taking advantage of hardware ray tracing are launching that day, plus rumors suggest the M3 processor could also be announced, which would also have hardware ray tracing.

I was hoping to see something in the ad showing the actual power of the A17, but one second from a game at a distance isn't enough to qualify. I doubt that they even used the A17's camera to film this commercial, or Apple's Motion software to render the images. Like Darth Vader, "I find [Apple's] lack of faith [in their own products] disturbing."
The funniest part was the 8 seconds of black at the end of the video, where Apple is fighting against Youtube's policy of placing promo windows over the last 8-10 seconds of content of the video. Doesn't Youtube allow/want rich clients to pay Youtube to get rid of these content-covering eyesores? Doesn't Youtube want free money? Is Youtube trying to lose money on purpose?
I must be in a bad mood today. I'm seeing fault everywhere.
Apple's gaming business is like a ship with a hole in the bottom, leaking water, and it's Tim Cook's job to get that ship pointed in the right direction.
