Apple issues updated macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 beta 2 version to developers and public testers

Following releasing a second macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 beta version to developers and public beta testers on Tuesday, Apple on Thursday issued an updated iteration of the evaluation operating system with what appears to be minor fixes.

The latest version of macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 beta is identified as build 17E150g, just one iteration above the 17E150f build seeded earlier this week.

Apple fails to identify what changes were made in the interim, but the new version likely carries only minor changes considering the build number modification. By comparison, the first 10.13.4 beta carried a build number of 17E139j.

When it went live on Tuesday, the latest High Sierra version introduced Messages in iCloud, a promised feature that synchronizes a user's Messages "stack" between multiple devices logged in to the same iCloud account. Business chat functionality will also be supported once third-parties begin to support the feature.

The build also included a number of eGPU improvements, according to release notes supplied by Apple.

High Sierra 10.13.4 marks the last of Apple's operating systems to support 32-bit apps "without compromise." As a reminder, the OS now throws up a pop-up window when a user opens a 32-bit, saying that compatibility will be deprecated in future versions of macOS.

The second 10.13.4 beta also changes the name of the iBooks app to "Books," a rebranding that first appeared in iOS 11.3. Apple is reportedly working on a redesigned interface and new storefront to go along with the name change.

Developers can download the second macOS 10.13.4 beta via Apple's developer website or the Mac App Store, while public testers can access the build through the App Store route.
