The upcoming Apple TV+ musical comedy starring SNL cast member Cecily Strong has added Keegan-Michael Key, Fred Armisen, and Kristin Chenoweth to its cast.
Apple signed the currently unnamed show earlier in 2020. It stars Strong and was created by "Despicable Me" writers Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio.
Along with Key, Armisen, and Chenoweth, Apple has reportedly added seven other actors to the cast, according to a report from Variety.
The show follows a couple on a backpacking trip meant to bring them closer together. They happen upon a magical town called Schmigadoon, where everyone acts like they're in a 1940s studio musical. The couple discovers they're stuck there until they find "true love."
Strong will play the leading role, and Key will star as her long-term partner. Armisen, an SNL alum, will play mild-mannered Reverend Layton, while Chenoweth will play his wife, Mildred Layton.
In addition to the four named cast members, the show will also feature Alan Cumming, Aaron Tveit, Dove Cameron, Ariana DeBose, Jaime Camil, Jane Krakowski, and Ann Harada.
Lorne Michaels and Andrew Singer will serve as executive producers, and Paul will be showrunner and writer for the series' original music. Barry Sonnenfeld will direct, Daurio will serve as consulting producer, and Caroline Maroney, Micah Frank and Rose Lam will produce.
