During its "Spring Loaded" event, Apple announced a purple iPhone 12 that arrives later this month.
Framing it as a springtime color, Apple made a quick mention of the upcoming new iPhone 12 model during the event. The new color is only available for the standard iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini — not the "Pro" models.
The purple iPhone 12 goes up for pre-order on Friday, April 23. It begins arriving a week later, on April 30.
"The incredible iPhone 12 is the most popular smartphone in the world," Apple's Greg Joswiak wrote in a press release, "and the iPhone 12 family has an over 99 percent customer satisfaction rate. The new purple finish, just in time for spring, adds another bright and fun option to the lineup, and we think customers are going to love it. This gorgeous new color joins the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini family, which is available in five other stunning finishes, and features an advanced dual-camera system, Super Retina XDR display, improved durability, A14 Bionic — the fastest chip ever in a smartphone — great battery life, and the best 5G experience on any smartphone."
The iPhone 12 starts at $799 for 64GB storage. The iPhone 12 mini starts at $699 for the same 64GB. The phones include the same A14 chip, 5G wireless, and a Super Retina XDR display from the models that launched in the fall.
