Opera GX Mobile now available for iOS via TestFlight

Last updated

The world's first gamer-centered web browser, Opera GX Mobile, officially enters open beta on the iPhone and iPad.

Opera GX Mobile is designed to be the mobile counterpart to Opera GX, a gamer-targeted browser that Opera released in 2019. Opera GX has over nine million users, and the company says that there's been strong user demand for a mobile version.

According to Opera, the mobile version offers custom navigation with the built-in Fast Action Button. It also features vibration and haptic feedback.

Opera GX Mobile also offers Flow, a feature that allows users to sync between desktop and mobile environments using QR codes. Flow also allows users to transfer files of up to 10MB in size between the mobile and desktop versions in an encrypted, chat-like space.

Also exclusive to Opera GX is GX corner, a home screen feature that highlights gaming news, deals, and includes a game release calendar.

Users can also customize the appearance of Opera GX Mobile, with four themes available to choose from, including GX Classic, Ultra Violet, Purple Haze, and White Wolf.

Opera GX Mobile is now in open beta, and iOS users are encouraged to try it via the iOS TestFlight program.

The browser is likely to be used in conjunction with Microsoft's xCloud and Nvidia's GeForce Now. Both companies eschewed an app, because when Apple revised its guidelines on game streaming services in the App Store, it required each title to have a line item on the App Store, with details for consumers.

This browser on my iPhone X is wicked fast!! Turn off all of the Gamers features, set Duckduckgo as the default search engine and have a very good alternative to Safari.
