(PRODUCT)RED purchases will contribute to Global Fund's COVID-19 Response

(PRODUCT)RED proceeds will go to COVID-19 relief

Apple says all (PRODUCT)RED purchases made from July 1 to December 30 will contribute to the Global Fund's COVID-19 Response.

Red devices and accessories sold through Apple have always contributed proceeds to HIV/AIDS programs in sub-Saharan Africa. However, the threat of COVID-19 continues to cause problems around the globe, so Apple is refocusing its proceeds to fighting the spread of the virus.

Apple says that providing support to the COVID-19 Response will provide critical support to health systems most threatened by the coronavirus outbreak. By helping bolster these health systems, it will ultimately help in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Over 100 Global Fund-supported countries have reported widespread disruptions to HIV/AIDS programs due to COVID-19. The (PRODUCT)RED website says a six-month disruption of antiretroviral therapy could lead to more than 500,000 additional deaths from AIDS-related illnesses in the sub-Saharan Africa in 2020 and 2021.

Apple offers many (RED) products for purchase today including iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone SE, cases for each, and Apple Watch bands. Purchase of a red iPod touch or red Beats products will also contribute to the fund.
