Razer unveils new Kishi gaming controller for iPhone

Razer Kishi V2 gaming controller for iPhone

Razer has released an updated version of its Kishi gaming controller for iPhones with an improved design, and a new app for customization.

Razer's new controller is compatible with iPhone product lines going all the way back to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus to bring as many iPhone gamers as possible into the Razer ecosystem. AppleInsider reviewed the first Kishi controller in 2020, giving it a favorable score that makes it a great controller for Apple Arcade.

The company says the Kishi V2 has a design that future-proofs it for new iPhones down the line that will have a Lightning port. There is an optional Razer Nexus app that replaces the older Razer Kishi app.

The app lets iPhone gamers access installed games, live-stream on YouTube and Facebook, browse the Razer gaming catalog, and customize controller settings. Best of all, Razer Nexus is 100% without subscriptions.

Razer says the updated design on the controller features a new extendable bridge to give a more stable feel, and an enhanced grip. New tactile microswitch controls found in the Kishi V2 were modeled after the Razer Wolverine V2 controller for consoles.

It retains the familiar form factor that places the iPhone in the middle with a controller on each side. One controller plugs into the Lightning port for connectivity, and supports pass-through charging.

The Kishi V2 includes programmable multifuntion buttons, microswitch buttons for the D-pad with mechanical clicks, and a dedicated button for screenshots and video recording.

This new version is also compatible with some iPhone cases and screen protectors using adaptable inserts.

Razer's Kishi V2 is available to purchase immediately for $99.99 at Razer.com and Amazon.
