Apple readying first Iowa retail store

Exclusive - Apple Computer, Inc. will expand its retail initiative to Iowa this year, multiple sources say.

The state's first Apple store will reportedly touch down in West Des Moines at the newly constructed Jordan Creek Town Center. Construction of the mall is winding down and the venue is scheduled to open to the public in approximately 6 weeks.

Plans for the store have been hush-hush, as its development has been masked by the overall construction of the "multi district" Jordan Creek Town Center. While the mall's website does not list Apple amongst its store listings, Jordan Creek leasing representatives confirmed that the company has secured retail space in the mall.

Job listings for the West Des Moines Apple retail store began appearing on third party internet job listing websites yesterday, but they did not pinpoint a store location.

Sources said the Apple store will most likely launch along with the Jordan Creek Town Center on August 4th, 2004.
