Logitech Logi Dock review: Combining connectivity and audio in one dock

Logitech Logi Dock review

Logi Dock

3.0 / 5

The Logi Dock is a great USB-C hub for frequent meeting participants and hybrid workers.

There are always new ways consumer tech is adapting to the age of video meetings, and the Logi Dock does so by bringing a great microphone and speaker into the USB-C dock on your desk. It has eight ports, including the upstream port connecting your laptop, bringing your setup and audio together in one place.

Logitech Logi Dock - Design

The Logi Dock comes in white and graphite, with a power supply cable, USB-C to USB-C cable, and manual.

It weighs in at 2 pounds with a plastic body and size-efficient footprint, decluttering wires as much as any other USB hub would. You get an HDMI, DisplayPort, two USB-A, and three USB-C, not counting the upstream port for your device.

For example, I could charge my phone, connect two monitors, and plug my keyboard and mouse in simultaneously.

The second priority of the Dock is to bring greater convenience to your meetings. Logitech accomplishes this by putting calendar integration into the Dock with the Logi Tune software, so you can join your meetings with a press of a button.

To complement this, they make the front and sides of the dock a speaker while putting six microphones inside to make you hear and sound clear.

Logitech Logi Dock - Use

It's a very solid hub with tasteful USB-A and C placement and something I was glad to have for Zoom meetings. Muting and video buttons are on the top of the dock, making changes on calls even easier.

When you plug your laptop into the dock, an LED underneath shines white. When you join a Zoom meeting, it shines blue; the muting and video buttons make the sides shine red to confirm you are muted.

I found this a pleasing design and UI choice to make using Zoom and other meeting software very easy when doing other things on your computer, like taking notes.

The speaker delivers pretty good audio, doubling as a good way to play music or make sure people are heard loud and clear. The mic performs well, too, so you don't have to put your AirPods in to make sure you're heard.

With all the emphasis on audio as part of meeting performance, I did wonder about the lack of a proper 3.5mm audio jack, but the idea behind the design seems to prioritize convenience over all else.

Logitech Logi Dock - Great for work, not for everybody

I'm not someone who's in many meetings, but the features of the Dock really shone for the Zoom meetings I've been in and for audio performance when listening to lecture recordings or music.

If you're in the office, hybrid, or remote, this seems to work for anyone in a team environment with semi-frequent meetings. But if you're at home mostly for work, chances are you already have a decent audio situation and can save money on a cheaper dock.

The Logi Dock works well for those who fit the audience, but the price point would make someone rethink spending $200 on a USB-C hub when they can get a proper Thunderbolt dock for better performance.

Logitech Logi Dock Pros

  • 8-in-1 ports
  • Good speaker and mic
  • Calendar integration and meeting convenience shines

Logitech Logi Dock Cons

  • Only truly worth it for people who take meetings
  • High price for a USB-C dock

Rating: 3 out of 5
