Apple is now on its third round of betas, providing developers new builds of iOS 14.6, iPadOS 14.6, tvOS 14.6, and watchOS 7.5 for testing.
The latest betas and configuration profiles can be downloaded from the Apple Developer Center, with subsequent changes available as over-the-air updates on enrolled devices. Public betas are usually made available a short time later, via the Apple Beta Software Program website.
So far, the contents of what Apple is including in the betas is largely unknown, with no major discoveries uncovered in the first couple of betas, beyond the usual bug fixes and performance improvements. It seems unlikely that Apple would release the operating system without any notable feature changes, as such maintenance updates would usually have a more granular version number than 14.6, for example.
Apple also released the third developer beta of the HomePod OS. HomePod and HomePod mini use a version of tvOS as their operating system. The HomePod OS beta is only available to a closed group of participants.
Both AppleInsider and Apple strongly suggest users avoid installing betas on to "mission-critical" or primary devices, due to the potential for data loss or other issues. Instead, the recommendation is to install betas onto secondary or non-essential devices, and to ensure there are sufficient backups of important data before making any major changes.
Update: Public beta versions of iOS 14.6, iPadOS 14.6 and watchOS 7.5 are also available.
