Forthcoming Apple TV+ comedy "Mrs American Pie" has signed "The West Wing" and "Mom" star Allison Janey.

The 10-part comedy is set in 1970s Palm Beach, and stars Kristen Wiig as Maxine Simmons, trying to get into the area's high society. It's based on Juliet McDaniel's novel, "Mr and Mrs American Pie," and has been developed for Apple TV+ by actor/producer Laura Dern.

According to Deadline, Janney will play Evelyn, a Palm Beach high society member. Dern is again said to be considering a "key role" in the series.

"Mrs American Pie" is to be directed by Tate Taylor, and showrun by executive producer and creator Abe Sylvia.

Apple TV+ has previously been reported to have signed Kristen Wiig to a ten-part comedy, but that's believed to be a separate sketch show project.
