Apple's macOS Ventura includes promising features in its first beta, plus iPhone 14 dummy models reveal larger display options, we dive in to watchOS 9, iOS 16, and more on the new AppleInsider podcast.
Despite sharing many features of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16, including Stage Manager and Mail improvements, macOS Ventura received unique updates evident in the first beta. For example, Apple has improved Spotlight search, the Clock app has come to the Mac, and System Settings has significantly changed from previous macOS versions.
Mail improvements, however, such as the ability to send later or snooze a message, currently leave some questions unanswered. Other email services and third-party apps sync snoozed and scheduled messages using the cloud, yet Apple's implementation seems to lock this feature to each device specifically.
In an interview with TechCrunch, Apple's Craig Federighi about Stage Manager for iPad, he promised improvements over the summer. So far, the new feature has received mixed reviews and seems to complicate macOS Ventura. Beta testers have also lamented that Stage Manager is only available to M1 iPads, which Apple claims is because its feature requires that processor's fast memory swap.
We go hands-on with dummy units of all four iPhone 14 models, including what purports to be a larger display version of the non-Pro iPhone. And as predicted, an iPhone mini-size device is sadly missing from the lineup.
We round out the show discussing the latest rumors about a 15-inch MacBook and a 14.1-inch iPad rumors, new information on Apple Pay Later, and Apple's decade-long agreement with Major League Soccer.
