Preorders for Apple's second-generation AirPods Pro appear to have gone live early on Amazon for the $249 retail price
Update at 6:42 p.m. ET: Amazon has pulled the listing.
Preorders for the newly announced AirPods Pro are, apparently, now open (no longer available). Amazon has them for retail price, with us confirming the order process, all the way through payment.
Apple's preorder process for the new AirPods Pro begins at 8AM Friday morning. While we did order a pair here, it's still possible that Amazon will be forced to cancel the pre-order by Apple. Note: you have to click on the Add to Cart button, not the text product name to begin the checkout process.
The new AirPods Pro feature improved battery life, up to six hours listening time on a single charge. The stem of the AirPods Pro has been redesigned to allow for touch controls.
The case has received significant upgrades as well. It now works with the Apple Watch charger, features an in-case speaker to be used with Find My, and is sweat and water resistant.
The new AirPods Pro has an updated processor for advanced audio processing, which Apple says provides twice the Active Noise Cancellation of the previous model and improved audio quality. It also features Transparency Mode, music reproduction, and 48kHz audio specifically for SharePlay.
The new AirPods Pro were announced at Apple's September 7 "Far Out" event, alongside the Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch Ultra, and iPhone 14 lineup.
