'Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile' landing on iOS on March 21

Fans of the 'Call of Duty' franchise will soon be able to play 'Warzone Mobile' on their iPhone, with the release of the first-person shooter set for March 21.

A little over a year since preorders opened, an official worldwide release date has finally emerged for the highly-anticipated mobile version of "Call of Duty: Warzone." Activision Publishing, which originally anticipated a May 2023 release, pushed the project back to November 2023, but unexplained delays caused the company to push that back as well.

The new official release date is March 21st for iOS and Android, and is accompanied by a new launch date reveal trailer. The game features Battle Royale modes as well as traditional CoD modes like Team Deathmatch and Domination, and includes classic maps.

The main map, Verdansk, will be limited to 120 players in the app instead of 150 as was the limit in the original "Warzone" game for consoles and desktops, but it does carry over the Gulag from previous versions. Rebirth Island will offer 48-player matchups.

Activision reports that over 50 million people have signed up for the pre-order already. Players who pre-order the game will unlock some bonus cosmetics, including two weapon Blueprints and an Operator skin for Ghost.

It's unclear what this will mean for the existing "Call of Duty: Mobile" game in the long term. Microsoft, which owns Activision, has suggested that the older title may be phased out.
