Freeform rumored to get new navigation feature called 'Scenes' in iOS 18

Freeform is Apple's basic attempt at an infinite canvas app and collaboration tool. It lets users attach images, links, text, and more to a whiteboard that can scroll forever in any direction.

Navigating an essentially infinite board can prove challenging without the ability to jump to different locations easily. That's where the rumored iOS 18 feature will help.

The new feature will allegedly be called "Scenes" and allow users to select specific sections of the Freeform board to jump to quickly. They would act as anchor points that exist as a piece of UI that appears near the zoom controls.

Scenes can be edited or shared and sync via iCloud. Collaborators will also be able to use the created scenes.

Switching between scenes is possible via software arrows or keyboard commands. Jumping between scenes will use the Option + Command + ] or [ to go to the next or previous scene, respectively.

Freeform is available on iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and visionOS.

Apple is always developing new features for its apps and operating systems, but not all of them make it to the final release version. It is possible such a feature could be released with iOS 18 and macOS 15, but the anonymous industry sources speaking to MacRumors can't be verified for their reliability.

The new operating systems like iOS 18 and macOS 15 will be announced during WWDC in June. After a summer beta period, they will release to the public in September after the fall iPhone announcement.
