Apple taps Jon Favreau for new iPhone 6s ad featuring 'Hey Siri'

Hollywood actor and director Jon Favreau is the latest high-profile personality to lend his face to Apple's iPhone 6s ad campaign, showing up in a 15-second spot highlighting the handset's "Hey Siri" functionality on Thursday.

In the commercial, titled "On the Set," Favreau is seen coaching precise body movements to a pair of stuntmen as they fly through the air, directions he can't quite put into words. Luckily an iPhone 6s nearby, so he asks Siri to pull up photos of flying squirrels.

The humorous ad was written to tout "Hey Siri," an always-on iPhone 6s feature that invokes Apple's Siri virtual assistant via a user-specific voice trigger. The functionality is exclusive to iPhone 6s, as it requires Apple's M9 motion coprocessor to continuously and efficient monitor background noise.

Favreau recently landed a cameo in another iPhone 6s spot released earlier this week, which also featured Penelope Cruz. The two Favreau appearances look to have been shot during a single session.

By enlisting the help of A-list celebrities Apple is taking a different tack with its latest iPhone and Apple Watch ads. October saw spots featuring Jamie Foxx, NBA star Steph Curry, comedian Bill Hader, actress Chloe Sevigny and a cameo role for Selena Gomez.
