Prince McLeanApple Inc. later this month will lose one of its most valued sales leaders to retirement, AppleInsider has learned.
"It is with mixed emotion, I send this final message," he wrote. "Over the past 21 years, I've had the pleasure of working for one of the finest companies one can imagine."
Hansen said he's looking forward to starting the next chapter in his life, which will include touring the country with his wife Jan and spending time with his grandchildren.
When he arrived at Apple over two decades ago, Hansen was tasked with training the reseller channel on how to sell more Mac computers. He eventually emerged as the leader of both the company's Apple Specialist Program and its Regional Retail teams.
"As I think about it today, while the title on my business card has changed many times over the years, my responsibilities have remained very much the same," he wrote.
While Apple seeks Hansen's replacement, Scott Fredrickson, Director, VAR & Distribution, will lead the Apple Specialist Program, and Mike Pinkman, Director, Direct Marketing, will lead the Regional Retail Program.

For the life of me, I can't figure out what the heck you are talking about. If you are suggesting that Apple has lost another board member or that this has anything to do with the Board, I suggest that you do a little due diligence.
However, I must say that the headline for this notice was a little misleading. I feel that it would be more appropriate to have said that "Apple's channel sales and distribution chief to retire." As such, the implication that he was somehow being give the golden handshake and all that it implies, i.e., involutarily being dismissed, would be less conjectured. Certainly for a man that has put over two decades and thousands of hours into helping making Apple so successful deserves to be better respected.

I agree with you on both counts Trevor makes no sense and the title is misleading.
Yeah, he has done a lot. Although it might very well be a combination. As we all know, Apple does not always have enough supplies on hand for the demand... Maybe good, maybe bad... But it might have at least a small portion to do with the decision.

Yeah. My weatherman has called it wrong a number of times. I guess he deserves to be shot when he didn't warn me to take my umbrella. However, i would still have taken his advice and left town before Katrina hit. Sometimes I could scream when my flight is delayed. Of course I would rather be late than have the pilot try to buck the storms. Then there is my stock broker who tried to sway me from buying Apple stock when Steve came back. I didn't fire him. He now listens to me.
So I gather from you comments that you feel that Apple should never be out of stock. That they should be able to forecast at a 100% accuracy. And just iwhat level should they overstock? But then that is forecasting too. Just how would you suggest that they do that?
Of course there are those who never make a mistake. That have that uncanny ability to gather all the facts and deploy just enough troops to win the war.
