Logitech G915 X Keyboard review: Stylish and slim

Logitech G915 X Keyboard review

Logitech G915 X Keyboard

3.5 / 5

The G916X is a flashy but effective low-profile mechanical keyboard for performance and RGB enthusiasts.

Logitech is a major name in mice and keyboards when it comes to productivity, and Logitech G works to apply that expertise in gaming and recreation.

Of course, turning a "regular" keyboard into a "gaming" keyboard implies RGB, but in practice, it emphasizes connectivity and speed more. The G915X does both well, creating a great typing experience for any user.

Logitech G915 X Keyboard - Design

The G915 is as thin as an iPhone at around 0.90 inches, with minimal footprint on your desk. It works well with organizers and drawers for those who use their desks for different functions.

The keyboard comes in different models, including full size and TKL, in either black or white. The switches come in tactile, linear, and clicky variants.

Our review model was a black TKL with tactile switches. The construction is mostly plastic, but with a metallic face on the front, I assume to reflect RGB light and show quality.

Despite not taking up much space, it's a well-rounded keyboard. There are setting buttons for lights and connectivity, media control, and a wide volume wheel akin to the scroll wheel on a mouse.

As with most modern keyboards, you can install software to increase your customization. G Hub is Logitech's software for their gaming line, and provides an easy way to remap keys, set RGB light customization, and more.

For example, you may have noticed that the G915X does not have macOS keys. This becomes no problem at all after remapping the Windows key to left alt and left alt to command. If this is your deal-breaker, you can find Logitech's default line to have more macOS-friendly keyboards.

Logitech G915 X Keyboard - Use

From the start, the G915X feels great to use, the keys are incredibly responsive and keep a satisfying rhythm.

As mentioned earlier, the thinness makes it super easy to stow away to transition to eating, reading, or anything else at your desk.

The RGB is tasteful, with vibrant colors that don't come across as tacky.

Logitech G claims the G915X can have up to 1000 hours of battery life without RGB use, which might be within the realm of possibility. I used the keyboard with minimal RGB settings for several weeks, and it took almost a month for the "low battery" light to turn on.

The keycaps are double-shot PBT, and the design within the board doesn't allow too much excess echoey noise that other keyboards of this size produce. Still, the lack of layering in the chassis and reliance on plastic makes for a more clacky sound while typing.

The wireless connection is pretty solid, as good as any other solid 2.4 GHz Bluetooth keyboard. I also like how once you set up your preferred G Hub configuration; you can put it all on the board's memory, so you don't need to open up another app every time you use your computer.

Logitech G915 X Keyboard - For gaming, but really for everyone

This is a great keyboard for those who enjoy the gaming or RGB aesthetic in their setup without getting a huge mechanical keyboard. I wish the G915X had Mac keys in the box, but it's easy to get around if you're willing.

However, with the price point of $199-$229, the reliance on plastic in the G915X's construction might feel underwhelming to some users who expect more premium materials for a high-end keyboard.

Still, it has a nice design with some standout features that will make it a great fit for many people.

Logitech G915 X Keyboard Pros

  • Long battery life
  • Thin and versatile in setup
  • Customizable digitally
  • Satisfying keys

Logitech G915 X Keyboard Cons

  • No macOS keys
  • Reliance on plastic given price point

Rating: 3.5 out of 5

I've owned more Logitech keyboards than any other throughout my computer life.  I have a G510s that I've had for at least 5 years, probably more, that I use every day.  I also have a two year old K350 that I use for my work machine, every day.
Solid kit.
