The Brydge Max+ keyboard and trackpad accessory is now available for Apple's 11-inch iPad Pro, as well as the fourth-generation iPad Air.
Brydge first debuted the Max+ keyboard earlier in 2021, though the accessory was restricted to the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. On Friday, a version that will fit the 11-inch iPad Pro is now available.
The Max+ keyboard attaches to the rear of an iPad Pro or magnetically. It features backlit keys and a large multi-touch trackpad, as well as a row of shortcut keys for brightness, media playback, and other quick functions.
It connects to an Apple tablet via Wi-Fi. The lack of compatibility with Apple's Smart Connector means that it won't be able to draw power from an iPad — users will need to charge it about every three months.
The Brydge Max+ is cheaper than Apple's Magic Keyboard. The 11-inch version, which will fit current iPad Air and 11-inch iPad Pro models, retails for $199.99 and is available in Space Gray, Silver, and White.

Just curious why these keyboard/case/folio manufacturers don't use the smart connector, is there some obstacle or hurdle preventing them?
Just received my Brydge Max+ keyboard unit for my 11" iPad Pro M1 2TB. Really like it. Works great on the airlines. One can take it off the keyboard and rotate it to vertical which was not an option before. Build quality is great. Another improvement is the power inlet is now on the same side as the iPad power port so cables do not need to wrap around the desk top.
