The Netflix gaming service is coming to TVs, and before that launch, Netflix has provided users with a digital game controller app for iPhone.
Rumors suggested Netflix was moving its gaming service to smart TVs and set-top boxes like Apple TV, heralded by code that suggested Netflix was working on a game controller app. That app has now launched but without any games on TVs.
The app was first discovered by 9to5Mac, which notes the N-Controller app for Netflix games is basically useless at present. Users that download the app today are met with a message, and that's it.
"Coming soon to Netflix. Play games on your TV with the Netflix Game Controller," says the controller app's description. "This Game Controller app pairs with your TV and allows you to play games on Netflix using your phone or mobile device."
At present, the free Netflix Game Controller app has launched in the App Store for iOS and appears to have rolled out worldwide. There currently aren't any Netflix games available on Android TV or Apple TV platforms, nor has the controller app launched on Android.
The Netflix Games service launched in November 2021 for the iPhone and iPad. Games appear as separate apps in the App Store, and users gain access by signing in with an active Netflix account.

I love the nod to the 80’s on the app logo. Reminds me of the Nintendo gaming console controller with the buttons and the slight 80’s colorvibe is spot on.
