Final Cut Pro, iMovie, Compressor, and Motion get updates for iPhone 15 Pro

iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Motion, and Compressor

Apple has updated Final Cut Pro, iMovie, Motion, and Compressor, adding support for the log-encoded video shot on the iPhone 15 Pro to the video editing suite.

On Tuesday, Apple rolled out updates for its suite of video-making apps. While all apps now support log-encoded video shot on the iPhone 15 Pro, each app also received bug fixes and user experience upgrades.

Apple has included the following notes with each update.

Final Cut Pro

Final Cut Pro 10.6.9 includes the following enhancements and bug fixes:

  • Take advantage of the flexibility and dynamic range of log-encoded video shot on iPhone 15 Pro
  • Enhance the look of footage shot on popular Fujifilm, DJI, and ARRI cameras using new log profiles
  • Fixes an issue that could cause Motion templates to not respond to the Opacity setting

Final Cut Pro is available on the Mac App Store and iPad App Store.

iMovie

iMovie 10.3.9 includes the following enhancements and bug fixes:

  • Take advantage of the flexibility and dynamic range of log-encoded video shot on iPhone 15 Pro
  • Includes stability and performance improvements

iMovie can be updated on the Mac App Store. It is a free download.

Compressor

Compressor 4.6.6 includes the following enhancements and bug fixes:

  • Take advantage of the flexibility and dynamic range of log-encoded video shot on iPhone 15 Pro
  • Fixes an issue where the source/output comparison viewer would not reflect the camera log selection
  • Addresses an issue where Reveal in Finder was not available for clips with modified audio settings
  • Fixes an issue where luminance levels could be incorrect when Job inspector color space and Output color space were set to Rec. 709

Compressor can be updated through the Mac App Store.

Motion

Motion 5.6.6 includes the following enhancements and bug fixes:

  • Take advantage of the flexibility and dynamic range of log-encoded video shot on iPhone 15 Pro
  • Improves performance when using the Align behavior
  • Fixes an issue where Motion could hang when playing back 3D titles at high quality

Motion can be updated through the Mac App Store.

The apps should automatically update on their own, but can be updated by visiting the Mac App Store on your machine. Currently, all four apps require macOS Ventura 13.4 or later
