On this week's episode of the HomeKit Insider podcast, your hosts go through the new update to Matter and the new devices coming to Apple Home, check out a TV in a briefcase, and more smart home news.
Last week, the CSA released version 1.2 of the Matter spec. This new update adds loads of new devices to Apple Home, including robotic vacuum cleaners, washing machines, and more.
We still have to wait for both devices manufacturers and Apple to add support, but once this do, we'll see many more devices compatible with Apple's smart home platform.
Apple also released iOS 17.1 this week, notably bringing Home Key support to Matter locks and fixing an issue on Apple Watch that prevented climate sensors from showing in the Home app.
Thanks to a listener, we looked at a smart chicken coop that incorporates sensors, an automatic door, and security cameras in this small coop the size of a parking space.
Then we went hands-on with the LG StandByMe Go, a 27-inch TV that fits inside of a suitcase. This TV works with HomeKit and AirPlay.
