Nomad launches leather cover for Apple MagSafe charging puck
Accessory maker Nomad's latest release is a leather-wrapped MagSafe charging puck cover, aiming to improve both the look and the usability of Apple's design.
The Nomad Leather Case for MagSafe is Horween leather shell with a soft microfiber interior. It slightly increases the size of Apple's MagSafe puck, but that's actually the point.
Apple's MagSafe puck is arguably a little too thin when you want to remove it one-handed. It's common to remove the puck not by taking hold of it, but rather by grabbing the cable first.
With Nomad's casing, you get a very slightly raised side area which is sufficent to make it much easier to remove one-handed from your iPhone when you're done charging.
The Nomad casing is held in place around the puck thanks to a ring of micro-suction material around the inside. It's not going to fall off as you remove the puck from your iPhone, yet it remains easy to remove when necessary.
Like all of Nomad's leather goods, over time it will develop its own rich patina that is unique to you. Nomad is offering it in both black and brown.
Users can order Nomad Leather Case for MagSafe today for $24.95.
This new puck case follows Nomad's recently revamped iPhone 12 cases. Those are also made from Horween leather, and come in black or brown.

I wish Apple would make something like this, and also AirPods cases. In both leather and silicone, updated seasonally like iPhone cases and Watch bands. I wouldn’t purchase one because it is slightly easier to remove, however. I would purchase one because it would add extra friction to the bottom of the charger, making it a little harder to slide off my night stand when not in use. It’s actually not that difficult to remove, as after you’ve done it a few times muscle memory kicks in. And I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the durability of mine, since after 8 months of daily use, it’s still in near-perfect condition.
Seems like heat could become more of an issue. I take off my case and do naked MagSafe on naked iPhone 12 Pro Max. It gets really hot sometimes. I even lay the phone screen-down or put on a stand so the heat can rise as best as possible. It can still get really hot. Forget trying to Play a game or something while MagSafe charging. It’s heat central. Wonder if this case will increase it more.
