Executives and VIP
Apple's leadership page rarely changes, but as everyone approaches retirement age, some shake ups are beginning to occur. Here's where Apple's senior executive leadership stand today.
CEO Tim Cook
Tim Cook has officially led Apple as CEO since Steve Jobs died in 2011. Before that, he had run the company during Jobs' health absences. Since Joining in 1998, he's been key to how Apple went from near-bankruptcy to its present status as one of the world's largest companies.
While his tenure has resulted in many successes for Apple, he's become a more controversial figure due to his interactions with the United States Trump administration. He is stepping down from his position as CEO and becoming Executive Chairman on September 1, 2026.
John Ternus: SVP Hardware Engineering, future Apple CEO
At Apple, John Ternus serves as senior vice president of Hardware Engineering, reporting to CEO Tim Cook. John leads all hardware engineering, including the teams behind iPhone, iPad, Mac, AirPods, and more. He joined Apple in 2001 and has been vice president of Hardware Engineering since 2013.
In early 2026 it was reported that Tim Cook put the design team under Ternus at the end of 2025.
Ternus is the next Apple CEO and will take over on September 1, 2026.
Craig Federighi: SVP Software Engineering
Craig Federighi, sometimes called "Hair Force One," is Apple's Senior Vice President of Software Engineering. He's in charge of developing all of Apple's major operating systems, overseeing macOS, iOS and iPadOS.
He also worked with Steve Jobs at NeXT. Federighi is best known for his enthusiastic, funny, and self-effacing presentations at WWDC and other Apple events.
Johny Srouji: Chief Hardware Officer
Johny Srouji is Apple's Chief Hardware Officer, a position that combines Hardware Technologies and Hardware Engineering into one role. He reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for everything from Apple Silicon to product manufacturing.
He's been with Apple since 2008 and led the development of the A4. His new role in the c-suite was created when John Ternus was selected to become the next CEO.
Greg Joswiak: SVP Marketing
Greg Joswiak is the senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing at Apple. He joined the company in 1986 and eventually became Apple's Powerbook marketing lead in 1997.
He took control of iPod marketing in 2004, followed by the iPhone, iOS, and iPad. He served as vice president of Worldwide Marketing for four years before taking over the senior role.
Eddy Cue: SVP Services
Eddy Cue is Apple's senior vice president of Internet Software and Services. That means he's the man behind iTunes, Apple Music, Apple Maps, and iCloud. He's been with Apple since 1989 and continues to work hard at improving the all-important services category.
He has been credited with Apple's increasing push into services and helped push for the creation of the Apple TV streaming service.
Phil Schiller: Apple Fellow
Phil Schiller is Apple's former Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing. He's now the company's Apple Fellow, an honorary role, but continues to manage the App Store and Apple events.
It isn't clear how long Schiller plans to stick around, but the products and services he has his hands on are almost always apparent.
Retired, deceased, or outside of Apple
