Vodafone has announced that its monthly rate plans for iPhone 3G will start at $47 (29.90 euro) in Portugal and $93 (59 euro) in Italy. Separately, Telecom Italia Mobile (TIM) has also announced its own monthly rate plans for Italians that start at just $47.

NBC has tentatively dipped its toes back into iTunes' waters. Also, Caris & Company has raised its estimates for Apple; Piper Jaffray sees Vodafone as having no iPhone exclusives; iTunes France may be the next to have a full-fledged video store; and yet another alleged 3G iPhone photo has appeared at AppleInsider's door.

Apple Inc. will apparently abandon its exclusive carrier model for iPhone sales alongside the release of a 3G model, as two Italian carriers have issued statements Tuesday claiming rights to distribute the iPhone later this year.
