MagSafe Duo, ProRaw, and moving from Intel to M1 on the AppleInsider podcast

MagSafe Duo charger

Last updated

Apple's MagSafe Duo has arrived at last, and we've been going in deep on Apple's ProRaw format with iPhone 12 Pro Max photography. Plus what it's like moving from an Intel i9 16-inch MacBook Pro to the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon.

The new MagSafe Duo Charger is now available for purchase but, unexpectedly, doesn't include a power brick. Now that AirPower seems obsolete, this iPhone and Apple Watch combo charger is fairly expensive even if you already have a spare power adapter. But it is very portable for when you're traveling.

After living with the new Apple Silicon M1-based 13-inch MacBook Pro, Stephen has sold his 16-inch MacBook Pro with Intel i9 processor and AMD 5500 GPU. We discuss the battery life advantages and real-world speed comparison of exporting 4K video through Compressor.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max has now been out for several weeks, and we can discuss in detail its low-light and shutter speed advantages. MKBHD has just held his annual blind smartphone camera test, and the DXO Mark ratings are out too, but there are limits to what reviews and breakdowns can usefully tell you.

Lastly, this is the time of year for holiday gift recommendations, and 2020 has seen a lot of new products worth picking. Perhaps the HomePod mini is a clear gift choice, but there are also significant accessories, bags, power adapters, and more to choose from.
