Todoist for iOS on Thursday updated with support for the Apple Watch, while notebook maker Moleskine launched a calendar app for both the iPhone and Watch, Timepage.
Todoist for Apple Watch
The Todoist Watch app, available to iPhone users, allows voice-based dictation of tasks and due dates, and access to all projects, task lists, labels and filters. It will also trigger reminders based on time and place, and notify users of new comments on shared tasks and projects. A Glance mode displays the next upcoming task.
On the iOS side, Todoist now has a faster and more reliable Notification Center widget, and a new, easier sharing extension interface, for instance including the core app's intelligent date parser.
Todoist is a free download for devices running iOS 8.0 or later. Some features require a $29 annual Premium subscription, such as time- and location-based reminders, and uploading images, audio, and files for tasks.
Moleskine Timepage
The iPhone title presents a schedule as a continuous, minimalist timeline, displaying a week at a time. Users can also access a narrower Today view, which adds weather to the occasion. Tapping on a single event displays a map view, invited guests, the estimated travel time, a more targeted weather forecast, and the next scheduled event. Directions guide users by car, bicycle, foot, or public transit.
The app integrates with iCloud, Google Calendar, and Microsoft Exchange, and allows creating events with simple phrases and a duration slider.
Users can also access a detailed, Fresh Air-style weather forecast that displays what the weather will be like at any given point in the day, including wind, humidity, and precipitation.
On the Apple Watch, Timepage shows schedules day-by-day for the next week, but only allows creating events by handing off to an iPhone. Users can however still see weather info, and get reminders and directions. A Glance shows the wait until the next event and an estimated travel time.
Timepage costs $5, and requires an iPhone with iOS 8.0.
